Sunday, August 31

today, in this very early of a morning, is merdeka day. its a day where all malaysians are suppose to celebrate malaysia independence and show their patriotism to malaysia. of course, being the non-patriotic self-centered person i am, i decided to go down kl for a round at the clubs instead. besides, gatecrasher or merdeka. the choice is VERY obvious. so, down to kl it was, suffering through a 2 hour jam, and suffering through many many painful sights of some people trying to show how patriotic they are (suffer, because i find waving a flag as big as yourself, and blocking your sight, while riding on a motorcycle, thats an act of sheer stupidity instead of anything even resembling patriotism.). its sad how the word patriotism seems to lose its meaning and seems to get all mixed up with the term fun and stupid. anyway, after all the pain and suffering (not to mention some funnt smokeshow that stank up my car at bukit bintang), we finally got to empo, where gatecrasher was held......only to discover that they raised the age limit to 21 years. aww shoot!
argh...that sux. so decided to check out atmosphere again. not bad a place that was tonight. kinda empty to start with but as the night grew older, its was packed like tokyo after work. got in there like, 3 minutes before 12, and as soon as we got in, they began the countdown. 5...4....3.....2....1....merdeka! and suddenly, the dj joey g starts blaring away a remixed and souped up version of 31 ogos. i wonder, should i have actually stood to attention to the song, or start moving to its funky beat?
31 Ogos

Tanggal 31
Bulan lapan lima puluh tujuh
Merdeka ! Merdeka !
Tetaplah merdeka
Ia pasti menjadi sejarah

Tanggal 31
Bulan lapan lima puluh tujuh
Hari yang mulia
Hari bahagia
Sambut dengan jiwa yang merdeka

Mari kita seluruh warga negara
Ramai-ramai menyambut hari merdeka
Merdeka !
Tiga satu bulan lapan lima puluh tujuh
Hari mulia negaraku merdeka

anyway, the night was fun. lotsa frens and faces, both old and new. my mates from last year were the stars of the night. came with some peeps i didnt know, and opened 24..yes....two four....bottles. no wonder they got the VIP section. bah..shouldve came with them instead. even met some peeps who'd i'd NEVER EVER expect to be at the club. always thought they were like goody two shoes hardworking top student type. i think my perception of that guy has just changed dramatically. anyway, laser lights, flashing lights, heavy bass, deep trance, and lots of hot female bods. more than enough to satisfy me. even got a chance to dance with my favourite CPU chiq. yum. merdeka! merdeka! merdeka!

if any of you doesnt know....or havent noticed.... i'm a hopeless addict to S.H.E. i crave over them.... and go to much much extends to catch glimpes of them, even if its for 1 seconds (imagine, i went to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport just to see them exit the terminal and enter the bus. what was that, 5 minutes of S.H.E?). for those of u uninformed (shame on you), S.H.E is the HOTTEST girl group in taiwan, consisting of 3 beautiful (okay, its 2 beautiful gals, and one okay looking one) girls, called hebe, selina, and ella, with excellent vocal talents. think of the as destiny's child of taiwan.
anyway, there's out with a spanking new album! and a free poster to boot. its called S.H.E Superstar and its got an excellent lineup of songs, including composers such as Jay Zhou, David Tao, and Geo from Sweetbox. even got a nice cover of a Backstreet Boys song. (urgh....i'm praising backstreets song. this isnt right)

beautiful, arent they? my lovely goddesses. Hebe doesnt look as good as past 2 albums tho. She seems to experiment the most with hairstyles, and her 3rd albums one was perfect, but this retro pulp fiction look really doesnt fit her. not one bit. selina, on the other hand, seem to have slimmed down and coloured her hair. she actually looks very very nice in this album, i'm afraid i might forsake my Hebe for her. nooo...thats not right....nooo. As for ella, i'll not touch on that. i've pissed off ella fans more than my fair share of it. anyway, in the beginning of this blog, i wanted to review each and every song...but i'm drowing in audio heaven now. ok, i'm logging off and back to me CD player. cya. The Byrds - Turn! Turn! Turn!

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

stupid songs stuck in my head. bleh.

hullo. hows everyone feeling today? bleh..stupid question. but i'm kinda having that on-top-of-the-world feeling, and trying to share the feel. hehe, ended up being called cocky, exagerating, insensitive and pretty much every other bad word u can find. bleh.... i should really learn to keep such things to myself at times. especially when others arent too happy. bleh.
anyway, i've been daydreaming alot about this gal i met few days back. beautified, and perfect in every way. can't seem to get her out of my head, like the sight of her has permanently burned an image of her in my mind. sadly, we r bo yuen fen. i'm off to sheffield in 2 weeks, and she's to be in russia this friday. bah, if the strings of fate are like this, fine... just gonna be down and disappointed for the next few nites. kinda contradicting, isnt it? for a moment, i'm on top of the world, and now, i'm down to the deepest gorges. how unpredictable can human emotion possibly get. bleh. my dearest angel, where art thou.

P.S - oh yea...anyone staying in the UK, someone please tell me the pricing of a middle-range SLR camera. i dont wanna bring my piece of junk there, and if its cheap, i might just start photography once again. digital cams are fun....but the real fun lies in negatives =)

Monday, August 25

i seem to be turning this blog into a movie review site more than anything else. or maybe i've just been too free and began catching up with the movie-mania. or maybe governments anti-piracy crackdown really is working. bleh. anyway, just watch The Medallion and here's my two cents on it. lets see, how do we start.....plotline..yea, i guess its there. not predictable. not really there. the stories ok at most parts of it, but they tend to leave out important bits, like how him and her got together, and other stuff. next up, effects. this is another of those famed guns-blazing-gravity-defying-trash-talking movies. i wouldnt really compare it to S.W.A.T or Bad Boys II as those to are at least logical. This show would be more like Charlie's Angel 2, where Earths gravity and Moon gravity seem to be equal, and people can break Olympic long jump records without breaking a sweat. point 3, corny-ness level. warning to all who havent seen this. THIS SHOW IS CORNY. VERY LAME. they have lines that can rival the "Gobble gobble" lines of J.Lo in Gigli. i mean, its downright stupid and lame, some of the jokes they crack. and the holes in the storyline...i'm gonna spoil abit in the next sentence, close your eyes....u will notice that Jackie can defy gravity BEFORE he gains his superhuman strenght, not to mention the chosen one being able to disappear at the end of the show, and couldnt do it in captivity? and whats the deal with that surfer dude professor/doctor. Corniness Factor : 9. nothing deserves a 10er, so far. oh, and Watson makes a pathepic comic. Jackie doesnt deserve to play a serious role, comics fits him best. of course, there's one thing to look forward to in this show. Claire Forlani. hard to imagine how a 31 year old can look so good. she has a smile that could knock you out, and all this time, i thought only Julia Roberts could pull that off. in the end, medallion is not bad, and not memorable. gnite.

surfing about this big and hyped site called fark and i come across this convinient article. it says, and i quote *ahem ahem*
The recording industry's anti-piracy campaign will refrain from taking legal action against small-time song swappers and will focus only on those copying "substantial" amounts of music via the Internet.

so, what does this imply (aside the fact that RIAA are arseholes stuck on old time traditions instead of embracing the online era)? so RIAA is acting only against big guy. or so they claim. how do they know whos the big daddies, and which ones are small fry. lets take a look at RIAA and their stupidity.

#1 - ok, we all know they issue those subpeonas based on what their automated system finds. we know they check people on kazaa, check the files they share. so what do u call a substantial amount of music? will i get in trouble if i recorded my own singing every hour, and share about 2000 mp3s of my horrendous singing online? or will i get in trouble for sharing 2000 chinese songs, all which has NO relation to RIAA, but is copyrighted nevertheless? doubtfull. so how can they declare someone as a big daddy? ok, they probably have a word tracker. maybe some sod having 20 songs by britney spears would get marked as BAD. wait a sec...this is a good thing. one less britney fan in the world makes it a better place. GO RIAA! ok, fine, u get my point.

#2 - to do all of this tracking, RIAA would need to substantial amount of money to hire programmers and other geeks to create programs to track them, right? i mean, these tech wizzies dont come cheap. and what does RIAA do? come out with a statement like "our gross profit this year is substantially lower than last year [even though we actually released less albums this year, spent alot trying to promote Metallicas hunk of junk they cal an album, and spent alot of money sueing our customer base ]". right. instead of spending such money to plan an online marketing method, like apple and their iTunes, they decided to sue the crap out of everyone, and ATTEMPT to make us buy CDs that would be better off as coasters *ahem*metallica*ahem*. pure genius.

#3 - another part of RIAA's great plan to self destruction, is to put out distorted and corrupted versions of a song in Kazaa, mixing it with normal songs, and spoiling the pool of mp3s. i dont know how effective this is, but its hell of a frustrating to me. picture this scenario: bad boys ii was kinda cool. i felt like buying the soundtrack. so i go online, and try downloading the main song "Shake Ya Tailfeathers" by Nelly and P.Diddy, just to sample it before i make my final decision. i get some stupid junk with about 10 seconds of normal music, before some very painful and irritating noise. ok, it pissed me off. i try getting it again. different filesize, different bitrate. boom, that stupid irritating screech. fine. download again. and AGAIN, that stupid noise. ok, now i'm really pissed, and that noise keeps ringing in my head. i turn on the radio. they start playing "Shake Ya Tailfeathers", when all of a sudden, i seem to hear that darned screech again. i turn off the radio. i turn on MTV, the "Shake Ya Tailfeathers" video comes up. and i subconciously hear that stupid static again. great...so this screech is permanently etched into my head, and binded with "Shake Ya Tailfeathers". how the hell u expect me to buy the CD now, when all i seem to hear when the song comes up is SCREEEEEEH. bleh. u can cross the soundtrack off my list. RIAA seems to grow smarter by the day.

#4 - RIAA's will is going against my will. and my will is almighty. my will is THE will. derek good, RIAA bad. i win =P

see, all of my points make sense (okay, maybe #4 is a little over the edge), but i'm simply proving RIAA are idiots. stupid farts. people with too much money. what the world needs, is less of RIAA excutives, and more of iTunes designers. oh, and less of britney spears fans too.

dum, da da dum, da da dum, de de dum. just caught S.W.A.T. today. failed to live up to all its hype. my opinion, its just another one of the abundance of action movies that seem to be flooding the cinemas lately. i doubt this will leave an impression to me at all. Bad Boys 2 was so much better, and way cooler. i mean, seeing bad boys would make u wanna join Miami PD, but i doubt S.W.A.T has that effect. its just guns blaring and loud explosions all the way. no story watsoever. ok, maybe a small insignificant story, one which is SOO predictable, u'd know how it'll end after the first 10 minutes of the show. either way, the action was great enough, another one of those shows to watch for fun, and take the mind of unwanted thoughts. anyway, updates on the blog has been somewhat scarce lately....i've been busy. as for the new template....wait and see. i'm having some minor problems with my PC, no time to fix nothing. what i need now, is a corny poppy song. someone recommend me something.

u know, recently, i've been catching up alot with old friends from secondary schooling years. meeting quite a few of them, and i was even at this small gathering of SMSJians just a few hours back, and it suddenly hit me, how little i knew or remembered of my secondary school life. not like there's much to cherish about it, but i remember too little maybe. given i know my class was 5 Nekad, and thats it. if u ask me whos my classmates, i'd say Terence, Julian, Buvien, Loo Yee, Kai Lip and the line is drawn there. 5 names is the only thing i remember of a class of 40+ (i dont even remember how many was in my class). kinda sad. very sad. i'd picture myself in the future, when everyone is recollecting what they did in secondary years, during some reunion dinner or something, and i'd be sitting aside and alone, whining to myself. maybe i should've done something different back in seconadary years, to be more....social. no, i shouldn't have been different in the first place. i probably shouldve become one of those indifferent common drones with the popularity bug. drones...nah...maybe not, i guess i'm probably just jealous and depressed. my secondary year was one of the most disappointing ones of all. i wish i never remembered it. *sigh*

We ride together,
We die together,
Bad Boys for life

riiigggght. who would actually make such pledge and keep it? i got too little trust in people for this. anyway, just caught Bad Boys 2 with my mates. sweet and simple is the way to call it. they have found the right working formula for an action movie, 69% action 30% comedy 1% plotline. so it had a simple plot. very predictable. very basic. good for relieving and resting the mind. so this show is best seen to relieve stress, and see mindless shooting, loud mind blowing explosions and senseless trashtalking. overall, i had fun and got my mind of some unwanted and heavy thoughts. anyway, just bloggin to waste some time....i'm going out. need more stress relieving sessions. so long. Bad boys, bad boys, Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you.

doomsday is coming. ok, maybe not the end-of the-world doomsday, but well, its the end of mine. heh. and in 9 hours or so, i'll find myself standing in college, knocking on my lecturers door. why? because tomorrow, preliminary exam results are out. 3 days since exams, and already they completed cheking it. ahhh, the efficiency of taylor's college. i hate it. this is giving me a sense of nervousness that, well, is overwhelming. i really dont wanna fail. i really wanna go sheffield. just look below, you see my predictions? i really hope it doesnt come true. but i'm also reflecting on my first semester results, not a very pretty sight indeed. 3 months back, i learned my results, and vowed to study hard for this semester. 1 month back, i planned to study the whole month before the exams. 8 days back, i started to study math for the first time, whereelse the paper was the next day. i guess lazy and unpreped seems to be the word for me. and now, i'm tensed, i can't sleep, and soon, i'll start breaking down and doing something stupid. whoever's reading this, pray for me.

Friday, August 1

FINALLY ! This day seem to take forever to arrive. 5 days of pure terror, and brain cracking questions, and my semester finals are over =) Next on the list, would be resits, and praying i can make it to sheffield. anyway, glad its over, now i can start back on my blog after a 5 day haitus. i miss this soo much. right...lets have a slight recap of my subjects and expectations.
Mathematics 2 - This would be one of the subjects i can never ever understand why they teach. it's not like advanced and engineering math have any real world application. and thats what education is about, right? preparing us for the real world.
[Prediction : Borderline pass, 40+]
Power Networks - Now this one, is another screwed up subject. Why do i need to know why something works when i push the power button? It just works, thats the way it is! Why bother coming out an entire subject based on power flowing into ur house? bah
[Prediction : Fail]
Systems Engineering how to engineer a proper management/planning system. hmm, for my future job of managing other engineers (i'm destined to be big and bad, hahaha) i guess this would be a good subject. cheers.
[Prediction : Good Grade, 70+]
Analogue Circuits - I actually planned to fail this since the beginning. heck, i only started studying for it about 9 hours before the paper. In the end, it seemed doable, and well, easier than i anticipated. But i only expected to fail this, not power networks. damn
[Prediction : Average, 55+]
Digital Systems - OK, i admit it, i was overconfident in this. it was the last day, last paper. i couldnt bloody concentrate, kept thinking about what to do AFTER exams. regretful. argh, i looked down on this subject, i guess. damn.
[Prediction : Borderline pass, 40+]

anyway, thats a low down on my dreadful week, each taking up a day of my measly life. i can't imagine going thru this again. i can, however, imagine the fun i'll have at the club tonight. theres some rave at atmosphere. now choosing between that and nouvo. i wonder. then, at 3 am, liverpool's amsterdam tournament. surely i'll be back by 4, so thats the 2nd half. yipes. gonna be awake till dawn from the looks of it. afterwards, resits study time.
