surfing about this big and hyped site called fark and i come across this convinient article. it says, and i quote *ahem ahem*
The recording industry's anti-piracy campaign will refrain from taking legal action against small-time song swappers and will focus only on those copying "substantial" amounts of music via the Internet.

so, what does this imply (aside the fact that RIAA are arseholes stuck on old time traditions instead of embracing the online era)? so RIAA is acting only against big guy. or so they claim. how do they know whos the big daddies, and which ones are small fry. lets take a look at RIAA and their stupidity.

#1 - ok, we all know they issue those subpeonas based on what their automated system finds. we know they check people on kazaa, check the files they share. so what do u call a substantial amount of music? will i get in trouble if i recorded my own singing every hour, and share about 2000 mp3s of my horrendous singing online? or will i get in trouble for sharing 2000 chinese songs, all which has NO relation to RIAA, but is copyrighted nevertheless? doubtfull. so how can they declare someone as a big daddy? ok, they probably have a word tracker. maybe some sod having 20 songs by britney spears would get marked as BAD. wait a sec...this is a good thing. one less britney fan in the world makes it a better place. GO RIAA! ok, fine, u get my point.

#2 - to do all of this tracking, RIAA would need to substantial amount of money to hire programmers and other geeks to create programs to track them, right? i mean, these tech wizzies dont come cheap. and what does RIAA do? come out with a statement like "our gross profit this year is substantially lower than last year [even though we actually released less albums this year, spent alot trying to promote Metallicas hunk of junk they cal an album, and spent alot of money sueing our customer base ]". right. instead of spending such money to plan an online marketing method, like apple and their iTunes, they decided to sue the crap out of everyone, and ATTEMPT to make us buy CDs that would be better off as coasters *ahem*metallica*ahem*. pure genius.

#3 - another part of RIAA's great plan to self destruction, is to put out distorted and corrupted versions of a song in Kazaa, mixing it with normal songs, and spoiling the pool of mp3s. i dont know how effective this is, but its hell of a frustrating to me. picture this scenario: bad boys ii was kinda cool. i felt like buying the soundtrack. so i go online, and try downloading the main song "Shake Ya Tailfeathers" by Nelly and P.Diddy, just to sample it before i make my final decision. i get some stupid junk with about 10 seconds of normal music, before some very painful and irritating noise. ok, it pissed me off. i try getting it again. different filesize, different bitrate. boom, that stupid irritating screech. fine. download again. and AGAIN, that stupid noise. ok, now i'm really pissed, and that noise keeps ringing in my head. i turn on the radio. they start playing "Shake Ya Tailfeathers", when all of a sudden, i seem to hear that darned screech again. i turn off the radio. i turn on MTV, the "Shake Ya Tailfeathers" video comes up. and i subconciously hear that stupid static again. great...so this screech is permanently etched into my head, and binded with "Shake Ya Tailfeathers". how the hell u expect me to buy the CD now, when all i seem to hear when the song comes up is SCREEEEEEH. bleh. u can cross the soundtrack off my list. RIAA seems to grow smarter by the day.

#4 - RIAA's will is going against my will. and my will is almighty. my will is THE will. derek good, RIAA bad. i win =P

see, all of my points make sense (okay, maybe #4 is a little over the edge), but i'm simply proving RIAA are idiots. stupid farts. people with too much money. what the world needs, is less of RIAA excutives, and more of iTunes designers. oh, and less of britney spears fans too.
